Carsten Dominik a752a22e25 Fix customization type for `org-agenda-sorting-strategy'
Patch by Mikael Fornius.

John Wiegley 8490a6c1d5 Added `M-x org-resolve-clocks' command
(org-clock-resolve-clock): New function that resolves a clock to a
specific time, closing or resuming as need be, and possibly even
starting a new clock.

(org-clock-resolve): New function used by `org-resolve-clocks' that sets
up for the call to `org-clock-resolve-clock'. It determines the time to
resolve to based on a single-character selection from the user to either
keep time, subtract away time or cancel the clock.

(org-resolve-clocks): New user command which resolves dangling clocks --
that is, open but not active -- anywhere in the file list returned by
`org-files-list'.

(org-clock-in): Automatically resolve dangling clocks whenever a user
clocks in.

(org-clock-cancel): If the user cancels the solely clock in a LOGBOOK,
remove the empty drawer.

John Wiegley d3f994e01b Added functions for determining the user's idle time
(org-clock-idle-time): New user customizable option for detecting
whether the user has left a clock idle. Note: it is only used in this
commit to test whether it's worthwhile to check OS X to get the Mac
user's current idle time. If the Emacs idle time is less than the
value, the user hasn't been away long enough to be worth checking (a
more expensive test than just getting Emacs idle time).

(org-user-idle-seconds, org-mac-idle-seconds)
(org-emacs-idle-seconds): This three functions, in conjunction
with the user customization variable `org-clock-idle-time', return
the number of seconds (as a floating point) that the user has been
away from their Emacs (or, if running on OS X, their computer).
2009-10-17 03:51:32 -04:00
John Wiegley defe6c3838 Added several new utility functions to org-clock
(org-find-open-clocks): New function that returns a list of all open
clocks in the given FILE. Note that each clock it returns is a cons
cell of the format (MARKER . START-TIME). This "clock" value is used by
several of the new clock module utility functions.

(org-is-active-clock): New inline function which tests whether the given
clock value is the same as the currently active clock. Returns non-nil
if this is the case.

(org-with-clock-position): New macro that evaluates FORMS with point in
the buffer and at the position of the given clock. Changes to the
current clock are global.

(org-with-clock): New macro that evaluates FORMS with point in the
buffer and at the position of the given clock. However, changes to the
current clock are local and have no effect on the user's active clock.
This allows, for example, far any clock to be cancelled without
cancelling the active clock.

(org-clock-clock-in): New inline function that switches the active clock
to the given clock. If either the argument RESUME, or the global
`org-clock-in-resume', are non-nil, it will resume a clock that was
previously left open.

(org-clock-clock-out): New inline function that clocks out the given
clock value without affecting the currently active clock.

(org-clock-clock-cancel): New inline function that cancels the given
clock value without affecting the currently active clock.
2009-10-17 03:51:32 -04:00
John Wiegley cc039d9016 Add new parameter to the `org-clock-out' command
(org-clock-out): Accept new third parameter `at-time', which permits a
clock to be clocked out at a specific time. Note that no attempt is
made to verify that the clock out time is later than the clock in time.
2009-10-17 03:51:32 -04:00
John Wiegley b6594a03df Prevent mode-line timers from being duplicated
(org-clock-in): Before creating `org-clock-mode-line-timer', check to
make sure an older timer is not currently running.
2009-10-17 03:51:32 -04:00
John Wiegley e673507f69 Added three new utility functions to org.el
(org-files-list): New utility function for returning a list of all open
org-mode buffers, plus all files used to build the agenda buffer. Note
that not all the files will necessarily be visited by a buffer at time
of call.

(org-entry-beginning-position): Like the function
`line-beginning-position', this inline function returns the beginning
position of the current heading/entry.

(org-entry-end-position): Like the function `line-end-position', this
inline function returns the end position of the current heading/entry.

Carsten Dominik 4fe057f4aa Search view: Search for substrings rather than boolen workd lists
The default in search view is not that the search expression is
searched for as a substring, i.e. the different words must occur in
direct sequence. The old way is only used it the first word in
the search string is preceded by a plus or a minus.

This was, more-or-less, requested by John Wiegley.

Carsten Dominik 5834ad01b6 LaTeX snippets: Avoid Overlap
It is possible that the regular expressions for LaTeX snippets match
at nested locations. For example, Nick Dokos submitted this:

,----
| #+LaTeX_HEADER: \usepackage{amsmath}
|
| * foo
|
| \[
| \begin{matrix}
| 1&d\\
| d&d\\
| \end{matrix}
| \]
|
`----

where the snippet regexps match at \[ ... \] and also at
\\begin{matrix}.

This would lead to two nested overlays being placed. With this
commit, only the outer one will remain.

Carsten Dominik 59370b6a83 LaTeX export: Remove bug in table export.
A `save-excursion' around a call to org-table-align make point end up
*before* the table. The reason is that a table align replaces the
entire table, including the newline before it. When the table is
removed in order to be replaced, the marker created by
`save-excursion' slips. `org-table-align' has it's own, built-in
`save-excursion' by remembering the line and column where the cursor
was before the align.

Indeed the happens because, when a parent gets refiled or
achieved, any entries corresponding to its children are
removed from the agenda.

We address this issue by

- sorting the markers, to make sure parents will be handled
  before children

- No longer throwing an error when a bulk action entry no
longer is present in the agenda - most likely it was taken
care of together with its parent.

This error is due to the fact that org-ido-completing-read does
convert alists to flat lists for completion. Now we check if the list
really is an alist before converting it.

Carsten Dominik 2cc99fbb0a Tables: Relative row references may now cross hlines
A relative row reference like @-1 in a table may now reach across a
horizontal separator line. I hope this will not break any important
tables out there, but I think it is the right thing to do.

The original reason for not-crossing was to implement running
averages of one column in the next. This can now be done using field
formulas near the beginning and end of the column, and a column
formula for the central part.

See the variable `org-table-relative-ref-may-cross-hline' for more
details.

Carsten Dominik 0eaf3cce4d Speed-up cycling in buffers with *many* siblings, and *many* drawers
For this we took another look at when drawers actually have to be
hidden again and found that CONTENTS view does not need it, and that
CHILDREN view only needs it before the first child.

The second speed-up comes from advising outline-end-of-subtree to use
the Org version when in org-mode.

The third speed-up comes from using a better way to find the next
visible line, using `next-single-char-property-change'.

Finally, `org-forward-same-level' and `org-backward-same-level' are

Bastien Guerry e17368ca76 Also use TAB for completion with org-insert-link.
Before this patch the completion mechanism was this: TAB let's you
complete through link prefixes (gnus: file: bbdb: ...) then RET allows
completion if a completion mechanism is available for the chosen prefix.
Navigating through the history of stored links was a separate process,
available through the up/down M-n/M-p keys.

Now TAB not only completes through link prefixes but also through stored
links. This behavior matches other Emacs completion mechanisms a bit
more closely.

Carsten Dominik c1d00fa463 Export: General mechanism for local settings
Many different people want to set many different variables in a
buffer-local way for export. This cannot be done with file variables,
because the Org buffer is not current while the exporter is running.

Lots of variables can be set with the #+OPTIONS lines, but finding
abbreviations goes only so far.

Therefore we have now a general mechanism that can be used to bind
variables during export operations.

a line like: #+BIND: variable value

will bind the variable to value. For example,
the line

>> #+OPTIONS: toc:nil

can now equivalently be written as

>> #+BIND: org-export-with-toc nil

TAB now cycles visibility in plain lists if the cursor is in a plain

This commit adds a new hook `org-src-mode-hook'.

The Hook run after Org switched a source code snippet to

- when editing a source code snippet with \"C-c '\".
- When formatting a source code snippet for export with htmlize.

You may want to use this hook for example to turn off `outline-minor-mode'
or similar things which you want to have when editing a source code file,
but which mess up the display of a snippet in Org exported files.

Carsten Dominik ee4bcda0e9 Clock: More control about what time is shown in mode line while clocking
This commit changes which time is shown in the mode line while
clocking. Normally this will now be the total time ever clocked on
this task and its children.

However, when the task is a repeating one, only the time since the
last reset of the task will be shown. The time of the last reset is
now recorded in a LAST_REPEAT property.

You can also set the CLOCK_MODELINE_TOTAL property to the value
"current" to only show the current clocking instance. Or it may be
the value "today", to only add up the time spent today on this task.
Other possible values are "repeat", "all", or "auto".

Finally, you can set your default for this property with
`org-clock-modeline-total'.

Carsten Dominik a18546c360 TODO entries: Control over when selecting a state is treated as state change.
This commit introduces two new variables:

- org-treat-insert-todo-heading-as-state-change

Default is nil. When set to t, adding a new TODO item will be done
by adding an item and the executing an "official" state change which
  potentially will trigger state logging.

- org-treat-S-cursor-todo-seletion-as-state-change

Default is t. When set to nil, selecting a TODO state with
S-left/right will not trigger logging, only selecting a new state
with `C-c C-t'. I actually like this a lot and would even consider
  making this the default.

This is subject to the variable `org-export-push-to-kill-ring'.

Also, this commit adds a new variable
`org-export-show-temporary-export-buffer' which can be used to turn
off the display of the temporary buffer containing the exported text.
Since this stuff is now automatically pushed onto the kill ring, some
people might prefer not to see this buffer.

Carsten Dominik f54ff074d2 TODO statistics: Allow recursive statistics
Setting the new option `org-hierarchical-todo-statistics' to nil will
make TODO statistics to be computed recursively. This means, not only
the direct children of a node contribute to its TODO statistics, but
the entire subtree.

You can also set the COOKIE_DATA property and add the word "recursive"
there to get recursive statistics for a specific tree.

The better approach is clearly to allow several buffers, now
implemented with this commit.

This bug was due to a missing save-match-data around a call to
org-get-tags-at. However, when studying this bug it turned out
that explicitly checking for the archive tag is not needed,
because we already have a call to `org-agenda-skip' in the same
loop.

This commit implements this, when the value of

Carsten Dominik 762736d18d Links: Implement special completion support for some link types
The commit implements a general mechanism for providing special
(e.g. completion) support for specific link types when entering links
with `C-c C-l'. After calling `C-c C-l', you may now press RET after
inserting a link prefix, and Org will look for a function
`org-PREFIX-complete-link'. Such functions may be defined for any
link types, including link abbreviations. Currently, Org has
`org-file-complete-link' for file name completion, and
`org-bbdb-complete-link' for completion of record names from BBDB.
